The Company

Gulf Helicopters Company (GHC) is an accredited Maintenance Organization approved by Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). In addition, the Company also holds an Authorized Maintenance Organization certification from Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA).

As a Commercial Aviation Service provider, GHC has been continuously striving to offer safe, efficient and cost effective services to the clients. In our pursuit for excellence in services, we had embarked upon finding turnkey solutions for maintenance, repair and overhaul services that has led us to add MRO capabilities to our repair station on a balanced and beneficial manner to achieve quicker turnarounds and cost efficiency.

GHC MRO continues to maintain and conform to the highest international standards, and annually audited by FAA and EASA. In addition, to being subjected to frequent and regular audits by QCAA.

We always offer our clients with a high quality service to support different types of helicopters. Our range of capabilities and technical prowess has been extensive and refined for supporting different types of engines, dynamic components and safety equipment. Our History

Gulf Helicopters Company (GHC) was originally founded as a Domestic Aviation Service provider in 1970 by recognizing the prospective opportunities for helicopter services within the Gulf States. We began operations in full swing in 1973 with its first operational base in Doha, State of Qatar. The state owned Qatar General Petroleum Corporation (QP) fully acquired GHC in 1998 as a subsidiary. After a decade, in 2008, Gulf Helicopters together with Al-Koot Insurance Company and Gulf Drilling International were consolidated to form Gulf International Services (GIS), a public shareholding enterprise that has been listed on Doha Securities Market (DSM).

From our humble beginning, we have grown over the years as an International Aviation Service provider, serving International and Domestic Oil and Gas Companies and other clients Worldwide. Over the years, we have earned ample recognition across the world operating from Europe to the Middle East to the Far East. Our global footprint covers our current and past operations in countries such as Germany, Denmark, Malta, Libya, Sudan, South Africa, Republic of Iran, Republic of Yemen, Sultanate of Oman, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, State of Qatar, Pakistan, India, Malaysia, Thailand and Timor-Leste.

Having completed 45 long and glorious years in this industry, we have gathered excellent know-how and enriching and wide-ranging experience in our sphere of operations. Our aviation activities encompasses helicopter flight services, helicopter maintenance, Aviation training solutions and other related activities.

GHC is a member of Helicopter Association International (HAI) and has been a regular recipient of the popular “Operator Safety Award” over the years including the last three years, i.e. 2013, 2014 and 2015 for accident free flying. In addition to this, in the year 1998 several members belonging to the Engineering Staff of Gulf Helicopters Company were also awarded with the Technical Safety Awards..

 

GHC MRO - Capabilities Overview

Gulf Helicopters Company holds the following accreditations and capabilities.

1. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved Repair Station (Air Agency Certificate # GQ0Y707Y).

2. European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) approved Part 145 Maintenance Organization (Approval Certificate Reference # EASA.145.0419).

3. An authorized Service Centre for AgustaWestland, Italy.

4. GHC is Pratt & Whitney, Canada’s Premium Service Provider in the region offering on-wing mobile repair technician (MRT) and line maintenance options for operators of its PT6T, PT6C and PW207E helicopter engines in the Middle East.

5. AEROSEKUR’s authorized MRO repair station for overhaul of Life Raft Assembly and Float Assembly of AW 139.

6. An authorised Service Centre for Survitec Group (RFD Beaufort) for survival equipment.

7. Approved as a Sikorsky Helicopters repair station for float assemblies and life rafts on S92.

8. GHC is approved for 300 / 600 hours refurbishment / functional check of Fuel Nozzle on AW 139.

9. GHC is approved for engine duct rotation on AW 139 – 67 C engine.

10. GHC carries out its own maintenance activities on different types of helicopter models – AW 189, AW 139, S 92, Bell 412, and etc.

11. GHC can carry out 4-year checks and various scheduled inspections on AW 139.

12. GHC is capable of undertaking annual inspections and other scheduled inspections on AW 189.

13. GHC has a dedicated crew to carry out D-checks on Bell 212 / 412s.

14. GHC holds NDT capability and also has various workshops to include, Engine, Dynamic Components, Safety, Avionics and also a paint booth.

Gulf Helicopters has also accomplished extensive and specialized maintenance jobs as follows:

1. GHC has accomplished more than 8 roof replacements / repairs on AW 139 in one year.

2. Undertaken heavy inspections on third party AW 139s.

GHC MRO – THE GROWTH STORY

GHC’s vision and commitment has been serving as a key stimulus for GHC MRO’s growth. The Company has invested heavily into accessories, tools and equipment, to develop the MRO to its full potential. We have developed a wide range of overhaul and repair capabilities, keeping in mind the long term future. Currently, we are working on further expansion of workshop capabilities on the AW 139 components and others.

GHC MRO is proposed to add the following capabilities and many more in the future

1. Main Rotor Damper of AW 189 and AW 139

2. Bushings and bearing replacements on several components on AW 139

We present real-time tracking facilities for all our work underway in order to track the progress and estimated completion time; We use ERP to track and control the progress of components through the workshops. 

• Mobile Repair Team

We can provide Mobile Repair Team (MRT) services for certain repair and inspection work, thereby limiting client downtime as well as cost.

• Customer Service

Our Customer Service Executives ensure that all our clients have our prompt attention that they deserve for any queries or requirements at any given point during the servicing process.

• Part Sales

We can also offer spare parts / tools for sale. Certain tools can be offered loan basis.
